As scientists continue to push forward towards getting the much awaited vaccine for Coronavirus, there’s additional news to smile about. Amtrak travelers cannot be more happier to hear the news. Amtrak has announced that it is waiving all change and cancellation fees for reservations made by September 30th, 2020. As we all know, the travel industry has been tremendously impacted by Coronavirus. Just like the airlines and the cruise lines, Amtrak too has felt the pain. Amtrak has furloughed 1,900 employees. To smooth out the rough ride caused by Coronavirus, Amtrak is taking every all necessary safety measures possible to keep passengers coming back and happy as they always been in years prior. What other leaps of faith is Amtrak taking to keep the traveling public in good hands?

Yes, it’s a must for all travelers to rest assured that Amtrak is taking all safety measures necessary to keep the onboard environment both safe and enjoyable. All Amtrak trains are equipped with onboard filtration systems with a fresh air exchange rate every 4-5 minutes. Amtrak is leading the way by setting a new standard of travel with enhanced safety measures and cleaning procedures. In an effort to simplify and safeguard the travel experience, several cleaning, contact-free and convenience measures have been implemented into every part of the customer journey, from time of booking to the moment of arrival.

Amtrak is in partnership with RB, the makers of Lysol. As part of the new Amtrak-RB  alliance, germ-kill experts and microbiologists from RB will help Amtrak strengthen and reinforce its comprehensive disinfection protocols for trains, stations, Club Acela, and Metropolitan Lounges. In addition, RB will supply Amtrak with Lysol Disinfectant Sprays and Wipes, which are proven to be effective against the SARS-CoV2, the virus that causes Coronvirus. The products are for use across high-touch and high-traffic areas, where germs are most prevalent. The partnership is expected to launch in stations served by Northeast Corridor and Pacific Surfliner trains, before expanding across the Amtrak network.

Yes, the traveling public can’t any longer for the Coronavirus pandemic to be over. There’s still a bit of a ways to go. The unmatched perseverance of Amtrak employees and continued patience is still needed to conquer this daunting challenge. To make sure passengers and crew complete their journeys, both for work and pleasure, Amtrak is going the ‘extra mile’ to ensure its passenger’ safe journey. Not just ‘safe’ as before the Coronavirus pandemic began, but ‘safe’ in a sense guaranteeing Amtrak passengers that their well-being on the rails is the carrier’s primary concern day-in and day-out. When the Coronavirus pandemic is over, Amtrak will be an even stronger passenger carrier than before. Amtrak employees and passengers will be more confident that their experience on the rails will be just as enjoyable as the days prior to Coronavirus. Yes, Coronavirus has posed an ‘upgrade’ challenge for Amtrak. However, Amtrak’s battle with the Coronavirus has been a journey all its own. Once the dreaded virus has exited, Amtrak employees and passengers alike can rightfully celebrate another great journey accomplished.
